BBSC Triathlon’s Boulder Sunset Triathlon Recap – An Endurance Festival!

The Boulder Sunset Triathlon BBSC Triathlon really could be labeled an endurance festival. With 1,500 athletes competing in an Olympic and Sprint Distance triathlon, a duathlon and a 5k and 10k run, there was something for everyone. Families with parents racing with their kids were everywhere. Many challenged athletes participated as well. Universities from CO, WY, UT, NM, AZ competed and added to the vibe. If you have raced in Boulder before, the course was familiar and the weather couldn’t have been better. With such a variety of competitors and many first timers on the course, with seasoned veterans, it made the atmosphere fun and unique. This was the 10th anniversary of this race and no doubt will continue to grow and with it’s multi race format, late in the summer will undoubtedly attract endurance athlete of all sorts for years to come.

Saturday August 5th

XTERRA Indian Peaks returns to Eldora.  After a 3 year detour over the Continental Divide to Snow Mountain Ranch the very popular XTERRA Indian Peak off road triathlon is returning to the Eldora Mountain Resort on August 5th.

The adventure begins with a chilly 1000m swim in Peterson Lake and after a 600 uphill run to the transition area competitors will head off on a 2 loop 23km bike on the trails of the Eldora Nordic Center.  This bike course offers a bit of everything, dirt road, double track, tight descents, muddy climbs, singletrack and a bit of no track.  After dismounting the bike the athletes will embark on what many call the best XTERRA run course out there.  This 4 mile run is a true trail challenge with steep climbs, singletrack and primitive trails that will put the hurt on even the most seasoned pro.

Outdoor Divas Sprint Tri

Longmont

The 10th annual Outdoor Divas on July 30th, awarded best women’s event in Colorado by Competitor Magazine, is the all women’s triathlon you’ve been waiting for!  We intentionally keep the race cap low at 600 women to create a fun, festive, yet intimate racing environment.  Great goodie bags, one of our biggest expos of the year, a ton of raffles, and a completely closed race course are just some of the highlights.  Due to the low cap we’ve sold out the past 9 years.  In 2016 we reached capacity on June 20th so please take advantage of the early registration.

“This was my first triathlon in five years since my professional racing career ended. I had no idea what to expect and the last thing I wanted to experience was insecurity in terms of the course and safety. Thanks to Without Limits and Outdoor DIVAS, I was able to put my best foot forward on race day, with incredible support along the way. It was a blast to mix it up with a great group of inspired women  I’m so happy that Skirt Sports chose the Outdoor DIVAS Triathlon as our first-ever Team Triathlon. We’ll definitely be back next year!”   Nicole DeBoom
