Boulder Aquatic Masters (BAM) is a nonprofit masters swim club that has been serving the Boulder community for over 30 years.

BAM coaches are all avid swimmers and well versed in all aspects of swimming, physiology and nutrition.

BAM Hosts Bi-Weekly Open Water Swims at the Boulder Reservoir Throughout the Summer at the Boulder Reservoir.

These Events are Casual, and Open to Everyone
These Swims are Perfect for Open Water Enthusiasts, Triathletes and Swimmers of all Abilities
You must be 18 years or older to participate

SCHEDULE: Every Tuesday & Thursday* starting Thursday May 23rd through August 29th
From 6:10 to 7:40 am – No swim on July 4th and August 6th.

LOCATION: Located at the Boulder Reservoir

COURSES: This year we will utilize two different courses (see maps below)
– The “Traditional Course” of approx. 1000 meters with a shorter option available
– The “Right Angle Course” of approx. 950 meters
– The “Half Course” approx. 700 meters

Courses will be defined by large orange/yellow buoys
Lifeguards are positioned throughout the courses to assist swimmers
Shore course available for tentative swimmers (approximately 300 yards)
NOTE: The course distance/location might change mid summer mandated by the City
of Boulder. We will make that information public as soon as all the details
become available.

PRICE: Drop-in fee: $15 (cash or check only)
Punch Pass: $60 for 5 swims (NOT transferable)
Summer Pass: $270 early bird (before May 20th)- $300 thereafter
*The Drop-in, Punch and Summer Pass include the entry fee into the Reservoir

1.5 hour long – Start Time 6:15 am- $15/person (in addition to drop in fee)

Beginner sessions will be lead by experienced coaches and swimmers who will offer open water
swim tips on land along with escorted and instructional swims around the half or full BAM course.

Additional Guards & Swim Buddies will be a part of the escorted swims.

Grant Ranch will offer swimmers an opportunity to train for their upcoming events or to simply practice their open water skills. There will be two courses available, 1/2 mile triangle or a 1.2 mile loop. Grant Ranch is free of motorized boats, which allows for a very safe environment.

  • There are 100 parking spots available so we highly encourage carpooling when possible. If you park in the neighborhood please RESPECT our friends in the community by keeping your voices low, observing parking signs and not blocking any driveways.
  • ID Policy: All participants must bring a photo ID to each swim. Swimmers are responsible for picking up their ID when leaving the premises. SwimLabs will keep track of punch passes through our software. If you forget your ID at Grant Ranch, it is your responsibility to come to SwimLabs Highlands Ranch to pick it up.Wetsuit Policy: No wetsuits allowed in the locker rooms or bathrooms. The association will provide a hose for you to rinse your wetsuit.Shower/Bathroom Policy: Open Water Swimmers are allowed to use the restrooms at Grant Ranch. Due to association rules, SwimLabs will need to pay for use of the showers. If you wish to use the shower, you will need to pay a $5 drop in fee or $40 annual fee. All swimmers must be off premise by 7:25 AM on Tuesdays and Thursdays and 9:25 AM Saturdays and Sundays.Swim times must remain within scheduled times. No swimmers will be allowed to enter the lake with less than 30 minutes remaining in posted hours. Swimming outside of posted hours will be considered trespassing and strictly prohibited.
  • 2018 Punch Cards and Passes WILL NOT transfer over to 2019. No exceptions.
  • We are a swim at your own risk lake. A limited amount of safety swim aides will be made available during each class. There will be no lifeguard on duty.Do not contact Grant Ranch for questions regarding water temperature, weather cancellations, etc. Please refer to our Facebook page or this web page for cancellations and updates.NO REFUNDS will be issued for any reason. You do not have to be a member of any specific organization (COMSA/USAT) to swim at Grant Ranch.No pets are allowed on the premise.
