There has been much conversation regarding athlete safety on race courses, especially cycling, in the wake of the death of athlete Michelle Walters during Ironman Boulder last weekend.
In the wake of the crash, some have speculated on social media that the Ironman should consider closing down all of U.S. 36. Reid said he’s not sure if Colorado State Patrol would be able to implement such a closure.
But Neal Rogers, the editor of CyclingTips and a Boulder resident who has participated in Ironman Boulder events in the past, said he’s “not sure such a closure would be practical or helpful.” Read more
303Triathlon had a crew of half a dozen roving reporters – including the “Ironman Fairy” – plus scores of volunteers helping all day long and well into the night… Here are all the highlights, from pre-dawn, through the swim, bike, and run courses – including the now-famous 303 Snow Cone Station – and the rock star finish line.
