How many of us had a rough few days of training, tired, run down, difficulty recovering? Most of the time, in a few days things seem to “go back to normal” and we continue on.
What if things don’t change after a few days and it persists? No matter how intune we are with our bodies, it’s important to follow up with your doctor and make sure that little “rough patch” wasn’t a sign from your body that something else is looming on the horizon.

The 2016 Escape from Alcatraz Triathlon is in the books. And you might want to consider signing up for next year. When triathletes think about Alcatraz, they immediately think about the swim, and rightly so. So let’s start there.
The swim is about 1.5 miles in temperatures ranging from 58 to 61 degrees. Due to favorable tidal currents, the swim can be blindingly fast, but this year it wasn’t.
At 7:30 AM, 1800 athletes leaped the six feet from the deck of vessel Hornblower, hovering near Alcatraz Island to the northeast of San Francisco, into the swirling water, all abandoning the vessel within six minutes.
